This painting is based on a morning I had in Yellowstone near Mammoth. I woke up at 4 AM to start work at 5, and head into the park at first light.
I saddled Zorro in the dark and we headed out. By the time our work was done, the sun had crept above the hills. That first warm kiss of sunlight on a cold morning is one of the best feelings in the world.
